Welcome to the Electronic Technologies Program!


We are currently working on our 5-year contingency plan for the upgrading of the "Electronic Technologies Program." The course will offer the following:
Old Colony Electronic Technologies Department
  • Basic Electronics & Digital Electronics Theory
  • Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Repairs
  • Microprocessor Theory & Programming
  • Robotics Programming & Construction
  • Computer/Network Fabrication, Repair, & Support
  • Introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers
  • Mobile Electronics Certification (MECP)
  • Preparation for the Certified Electronic Technician (C.E.T./ETA) Exam

Students will become familiar with the following equipment and programs: Old Colony Electronic Technologies Department
  • Digital Logic Probes, Oscilloscopes, and Analog/Digital Multimeters
  • Frequency Counters and Watt Meters
  • Basic Stamp II Ladder Logics (as pictured)
  • PROGO (Legos Mindstorm Kit)
  • Windows Registry Functions

Perry Wood, Electronic Technologies senior (Class of 2007) earned a Gold Medal in the Massachusetts SkillsUSA competition in April 2007. Perry will now compete in the SkillsUSA National Competition in Kansas City, MO, in June of 2007.

News from Electronic Technologies

Since 1978, the Electronics Technicians Association International has accredited electronics technicians worldwide who excel in area of electronics equipment service and support. An electronics technician who successfully passes an ETA certification exam is professionally recognized as having the necessary knowledge and technical skills to meet electronics service industry standards. Certification denotes proficiency in electronics and improves technicians ability for advancement in the electronics industry.

The Electronic Technologies Program has articulation agreements with New England Institute of Technology and Bristol Community College. Graduates are awarded five college credits for work completed in high school.

Electronics student receives ETA certification

A member of the Class of 2007 at Old Colony RVTHS has earned national certification from the Electronics Technicians Association. Robert Loesher (Carver), received the Associate Level Electronics Technicians Certification. The Associate Level is generally earned by individuals in post-secondary education. The credential is required by the electronics industry across the United States.
