Vocational Exploration Days

Old Colony is pleased to host our annual Vocational Exploration Days (formerly known as Career Awareness Days).

On October 31, November 1 & 2, we will be hosting the 8th grade students from our sending communities for a morning of  Vocational Exploration and a chance to experience Old Colony through activities in each of our 13 technical program areas.

On Sunday, November 4, from 10 am – noon, we will have our  Vocational Exploration Family Open House.  The technical program areas will be open for tours and Q&A.  Additionally, representatives from the academic programs, Guidance, student activities, and athletics will all be on hand to share information and answer questions.

On July 19, 2018 Old Colony School Committee approved revised policies including Physical Restraint of Students (JKAA) and Student Absences and Excuses (JH).

Student Council Fundraiser

SCHOOL ON WHEELS

The Student Council and Ms. Thompson are collecting for School On Wheels once again. Please drop off any donations to one of the boxes near the library, the lobby or the front teacher’s room or bring the donation directly to Ms. Thompson’s room.  We will be collecting all year! Last year we were able to donate well over $1,000 worth of stuff so please help us do that again!

Next Early Release Oct. 17, 2018

This is a reminder that there is an early release for students on Oct. 17, 2018.  The time of dismissal is 12:23 pm.  Please be aware of the change in dismissal time.  To see a complete list of early release days and dismissal times please click here.

Walter J. Markham Award

Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School has been named the recipient of the 2017-2018 Division II Walter J. Markham Award as part of the Boston Globe’s Scholastic Awards, which go to schools with the best win-loss records in athletic competition. This is a first for Old Colony.

In 2017-2018, Old Colony athletic teams won 58.61% of all athletic contests. Old Colony boasted a Fall Season record of 46-51-3; a Winter Season record of 25-12-0; and a Spring Season record of 50-22-0; with an overall record of 121-85-3.

Established in 1997, the award is named for Walter Markham, a native of Lowell who initiated the state’s regional vocational and technical high schools and served as president and treasurer of the American Vocational Association.

2018-2019 Sports Information

3:30 – 5:00 pm free sports physicals

5:30 pm – informational meeting for all players and parents.  Any freshman wanting to participate in a fall sport will be required to sign-up at this time.

 

Start Dates for Fall Sports:

August 17, 2018 – Football

August 23, 2018 – Soccer, Volleyball, Cross Country & Golf
