Senior Year

Safety

Each student will take a safety exam on each piece of our equiptment before he/she will work in the shop. Each student is issued a pair of safety glasses that must be worn at all times. Proper shop dress is required. We feel safety is habit- forming and is always required in the work place.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from the Automotive Technology Program, the student must complete four years with a total number of credits. Shop requires 18.5 credits and related classes require 7.5 credits and students must also have a portfolio by graduation.

Industry Certification

Learn from the best – Our program is nationally certified by ASE/NATEF (National Automotive Technical Education Foundation). Every instructor is master-certified by ASE (Automotive Service Excellence).

 

Co-Operative Education

Our Co-Operative Education Program is available to juniors and seniors who meet the highest standards in our program, both shop and academic. Employment rates for Automotive Technology students are very high *#8211; 98% of our students are hired after graduation because of the Co-Operative Program. Some dealerships will sponsor students who go on to pursue higher education with one of the technical college programs that are available. Other employers may reimburse part of your education upon hiring you full-time. We feel that the Co-Operative Program is an intergal part of our education plan for our students.

Real-World Training:

Our Automotive Technical Program is on live vehicles in a garage atmosphere, along with classroom-related theory instruction. Students will rotate their time with academic time every ten days.

Limited Class Size:

Class size is limited to twelve students to be able to maintain a good instructor-to-student ratio. Quality candidates who rotate through our freshman exploratory program are chosen by their interest, behavior, and motivation.

Students alternate going to college and working in dealerships for approximately two years, leading to an Associate Degree.

Students in the ASE Master Automotive Technology Program learn how to diagnose, service and repair both domestic and foreign automobiles. They also learn how to troubleshoot problems of all kinds, using the latest engine analyzers, hand-held scanners, and other computerized diagnostic equipment. Students learn it all – from basic engine systems, to computerized fuel injection, anti-lock brakes, computerized engine control, air condition repair and testing, chassies, and front end repair.

Upon graduation, our students are qualified to work in a shop that uses such equipment and processes as:

  • Computerized four-wheel alignment
  • Chassies and suspension repair machines
  • On and off car Hunter wheel balances
  • AAMCO disc and drum resurfacing
  • Robin Air evacuation
  • Recharging, recovering, and retro-fitting air conditioners
  • FTC monitor 4000A computer diagnostics
