Financial Aid Seminar
This seminar, sponsored by the Massachusetts Educational Finance Authority (MEFA), will provide information and clarity on the entire college financial aid application process. You’ll learn about financial aid applications and types of financial aid, the factors that determine your aid eligibility, how colleges determine the amount of aid to offer, and the details of financial aid award letters. The seminar was on Oct. 10, 2018.
To Parents and/or Guardians of Senior students,
Completing the FAFSA form is a confusing but integral part of the college process.
Advisors from the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) will be visiting Old Colony on November 7, 2018. Unlike the previous financial aid presentation, during this time representatives from EOC will be helping you by appointment only to complete the FAFSA form and submit it online that evening.
There is a list from EOC here, stating the necessary documentation to bring on November 7. Please review this list to be sure that you have everything that is essential for completing the process. Having an extra copy of your taxes available will be helpful.
Please use the link below to schedule your appointment as soon as possible as space is limited.
Educational Opportunity Center (EOC)
The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) looks forward to helping families at Old Colony navigate the college financial aid process. EOC is a federal TRIo grant, funded through federal financial aid, to provide free assistance to primarily low income or first generation potential college students, although a family in need of assistance is never turned away. EOC is excited to be working with the Old Colony’s Guidance Department to provide an opportunity for families to come to the high school on the evening of November, 7, 2018 to complete your child’s FAFSA. Please use the link on our home page to schedule an appointment. You can also visit EOC at their main office to complete your FAFSA and/or CSS Profile during the weekday and scholarship programs to award non-federal aid. They also offer late afternoon/early evening and Saturday morning appointments on a limited basis as well. Again, all services are free. Please see the Educational Opportunity Flyer for more information regarding this agency and you can schedule an appointment. Please call 508-996-3147 ext. 3923 to schedule an appointment.
There will be no appointments scheduled that evening to complete the CSS Profile.
The CSS Profile is a different online application that collects information used by nearly 400 colleges and scholarship programs to award non-federal aid. (For federal aid you must complete the FAFSA form).
