The Student of the Trimester is selected by the shop instructors in each technical program area. The criteria for the Student of the Trimester program is based on a student’s improvement, service, attitude, and shop projects. The program is intended to raise self-esteem in the student body.

Diet Aide - Old Colony

Jim Marot of Town of Acushnet Building Inspector & Facilities Management is look for 2 (two) students for gainful employment to do lawn and yard maintenance for the summer.  Two students, male or female, who are strong-willed, industrious, intelligent, dependable and personable must be willing to work alone, have a driver’s license and take instruction well.  The job will be for 35 hours per week at $15 PER HOUR.  It would be best if at least one has some mechanical experience.  Jim can be reached at jmarot@acushnet.ma.us.  Please forward a resume and letter explaining that you are applying for the lawn/yard maintenance job with contact information so an interview can be set up.

NWD Inc. is a family owned trucking company located at 61 John Vertente Blvd. in New Bedford Industrial Park.  They are currently hiring for part-time shipping & receiving workers, work schedule is Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 4:00 pm until trucks are loaded.  Responsibilities include wrapping pallets, load/unload trucks, assist with separating freight.  Please apply in person.

Bernard’s Driving School

There will be make-classes for Old Colony students which will run May 6 – 17th, 2019 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Bernard’s Driving School will be holding a mandatory parent class on May 9th, 2019 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at their office location, 345 Union St. #3, New Bedford, MA 02740.

Vocational Exploration Days

Old Colony is pleased to host our annual Vocational Exploration Days (formerly known as Career Awareness Days).

On October 31, November 1 & 2, we will be hosting the 8th grade students from our sending communities for a morning of  Vocational Exploration and a chance to experience Old Colony through activities in each of our 13 technical program areas.

On Sunday, November 4, from 10 am – noon, we will have our  Vocational Exploration Family Open House.  The technical program areas will be open for tours and Q&A.  Additionally, representatives from the academic programs, Guidance, student activities, and athletics will all be on hand to share information and answer questions.

Student Council Fundraiser

SCHOOL ON WHEELS

The Student Council and Ms. Thompson are collecting for School On Wheels once again. Please drop off any donations to one of the boxes near the library, the lobby or the front teacher’s room or bring the donation directly to Ms. Thompson’s room.  We will be collecting all year! Last year we were able to donate well over $1,000 worth of stuff so please help us do that again!
