West Bridgewater 6, Old Colony 3

 The Cougars lost their first-ever home match at Acushnet River Valley Golf Course. It went very well," said Old Colony head coach John Abaray. "The people at the course could not have been more accommodating." Sophomore Steve Bernat, who defeated Andy Anderson 3 and 2, was low medalist for the Cougars, firing a two-over par 38. The other winner for Old Colony was Eric DeBarros, 1-up over Mike Vasser. It was DeBarros' second match of his career. David Bernat lost to Nick Jordan 3 and 2, Nick Jenkins fell to Tim McDonald 4 and 3, Brian Desmarais dropped a 5 and 4 decision to Mitch Nitchio and Chad Deschamps lost to Nick Angelo 1-up.

Match #2:

Old Colony 9, Blue Hills 0

 David Bernat fired an even par 36 at Ponkapoag Golf Club in Canton, leading the Cougars (1-1) to a sweep. Freshman D.J. Dobson, competing in his first match ever, shot a 46 and soundly defeated Bob McNulty 5 and 4. Also victorious for Old Colony, Nick Jenkins defeated John Andeers 2-up, Steve Bernat took care of Steve Gibbs 4 and 3, Eric DeBarros defeated Luke Guidry 1-up and Matt Hudon topped Jack Cleary 3 and 2.

Fairhaven 34 1/2, Old Colony 19 1/2

 Max Blanchard fired an even-par 36 at Whaling City Golf Course to lead the Blue Devils (1-5). David Bernat was the low medalist for the Cougars, shooting a 39. Tyler Viera carded a 39 for Fairhaven, Eric Fernandes and Craig Perry finished with 47, Shane Kirk added a 48, and Max Carey finished with a 51. For Old Colony, Neil Regis shot a 41, Steve Bernat finished with a 43, Nick Jenkins carded a 52, Chad Deschamps added a 54, and D.J. Dobson finished with a 56.

Match #4:

Old Colony 9, Tri-County 0

 The Cougars swept all their matches at the par-36 New England Country Club in Bellingham. Low medalist Steve Bernat (40) beat Matt Williams, 5-4. Brother David Bernat defeated Kevin Simmons, 4-3. Neil Regis beat T.J. Rizzo, 3-2, and they also won best ball, 4-3. Also winning were Nick Jenkins (2-1 over Charlie Desirey), Chad Deschamps (3-2 over Bobby Hart), and Eric DeBarros (5-4 over John Parchesky). Jenkins and DeBarros both won best ball in their respective group, each by a 3-2 score.

Old Colony 9, Bristol-Plymouth 0

 The Cougars swept for their third victory of the season, improving their record to 3-2. Brothers Daivd (40) and Steve Bernat (41) had the day's lowest scores and won their individual matches, 3-and-2, and 5-and-4, respectively. Neil Regis (2-up), Nick Jenkins (3-and-2), Eric DeBarros (4-and-3), and Chad Deschamps (2-up) were Old Colony's other victors. The Cougars will next travel to the Countru Club of New Bedford on Monday to take on Stang.

West Bridgewater 8 1/2, Old Colony 1/2

 Old Colony's David Bernat shot a 5-over-par 39 to halve his match at number one against Nick Jordan (38) in Mayflower League action at Pine Oaks Golf Course in Easton. Neil Regis fired a 5-over 44 for the Cougars, but dropped a 2-and-1 decision at number two to Jim Anderson, who finished with a 41. Steve Bernat carded an impressive 6-over 40 at number three for Old Colony, but came up short in a 2-and-loss to Eric Taylor, the low medalist with a 1-over 35. The Cougars (3-4) host Bishop Stang for a non-conference match at Acushnrt River Valley Golf Course.

Bishop Stang 6 1/2, Old Colony 2 1/2

 In a match played at Acushnet River Valley Golf Course, the Spartans (7-3)got victories from John Ritter, 3-and-2 over Neil Regis, Jon Meunier, 1-up over Matt Hudon, Craig Elder, 2-and-1 over Nick Jekins and Jake Clarke, 2-up over Eric DeBarros. The Cougars (3-5) were led by the Bernat brothers, Dave and Steven. In the first flight, Dave Bernat shot a 41 and defeated Matt Boyd 1-up, while Steven Bernat earned low medalist honors for Old Colony, firing a 40 and topping Kyle Reid 2-and-1. Old Colony hosts Blue Hills today.

 Brothers Dave and Steven Bernat shared low medalist honors, each shooting a 39 yesterday at Acushnet River Valley. Dave defeated Sean Miff, 4-3, while Steve beat Mike Fernandes by the same score. Neil Regis dropped James Riley, two up, and won best ball 2-1. Nick Jekins beat Tim Jarry 3-2, while Chad Deschamp won over Mike MacNally, two up, and won best ball by the same score. Old Colony (4-5) plays Cape Cod TEch today at Ocean Edge in Brewster.

Cape Cod 5 1/2, Old Colony 3 1/2

 The Cougars (4-6) got wins from David Bernat, 3-2 over Brandon Campbell, and Neil Regis, 2-1 over Kerri Sullivan at Ocean's Edge Golf Course. Steve Bernat dropped a 3-2 decision to Andrew St. Pierre, Matt Hudon halved his match with Alex Haven, Eric DeBarros lost to P.J. Flaherty and Brian Desmaris fell to Josh Brunelle 2-up. Old Colony hosts Tri-County today.

Old Colony 7, Tri-County 2

 Dave Bernat led the Cougars (5-6), firing a two-over-par 38, and defeated Tim Colby 2-up at Acushnet River Valley Golf Course. Old Colony also got victories from Neil Regis, who shot a 39 and defeated Mike Milchen 5-4, Steve Bernat (38) over Richard Hart 5-4 and freshman Josh Stairs, making his first varsity start, over Jake Nunes 4-3. The Cougars host Fairhaven on Monday.

 Dave Bernat was low medalist for Old Colony, carding a two over par 38 at Acushnet River Valley Golf Course. Dave Bernat lost his match to Max Blanchard, who shot an even par 36 for the 2-up win. The Cougars also got victories from Steve Bernat (41) 3-2 over Shane Kirk, Matt Hudon (42) 2-1 over Eric Fernandes, Chad Deschamps, 4-3 and Brian Desmaris 2-1. Neil Regis and Tyler Viera both finished with 42 to halve the match.

Old Colony 9, Brystol-Plymouth 0

 David Bernat shot a 39 and Neil Regis shto a 40, but both lost their matches at Scottish Links in Bridgewater. Steve Bernat (41) and Nick Jenkins (50) lost his match, but they won best ball, two-up. Eric Debarros (49) won his match, 3-2 and won best ball, 3-2. The Cougars (6-6) will take part in today's Vocational State Tournament, and host Cape Cod Tech on Thursday.

Mass. Vocational Championship

 Old Colony Cougars placed fourth out of 16 teams with a score of 347 at Ritter's Golf Course in Whitman. Upper Cape was the winner with a team score of 337. The Cougars placed second in 2002 after winning the event in 1999-2001. David Bernat led Old Colony carding 80 on the par 70 course. Neil Regis added an 83, Steve Bernat finished with an 84 and Matt Hudon fired a 95. The Cougars host Cape Cod Tech today and need to win one of its remaining two matches to qualify for the postseason.

Old Colony finishes 3rd in Mayflower League Tournament
The Cougars finished with a team score of 341 to finish third out of the field of 11 schools. David Bernat (77), Steve Bernat (78), Neil Regis (90), and Matt Hudon (98) represented Old Colony at the par 71 Easton Country Club.

The senior boasted an 11-2-1 record during the regular season and average three-over-par at the Cougars' home course, Acushnet River Valley. At the State Vocational Tournament held at Ritter's Golf Course in Whitman, Bernat fired a 77, good for third place. He finished second at the Mayflower league tournament at Easton Country Club, also carding a 77. At the South Sectional Qualifier at Cranberry Valley Country Club in Harwich, Bernat shot an 80 and advanced to the All-State individual final. He was one-under-par through the first nine holes. �We depended on him quite a bit, and he did his job,� Old Colony head couch John Abaray said. Ranked in the top 10 of his class, Bernat hopes to continue his golf career in college.
